Who is PBC

" Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God." - John 6:68-69

Pocatello Baptist Church

Why PBC?

At PBC, it is our belief that the church exists to be a place of refuge for the believer. Believers will be challenged in their walk with Christ through expositional teaching of the Word of God.

The church should be a place for the believer to be edified and renewed through the fellowship of believers with music, prayer, and preaching which will provoke us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior of Jesus Christ.

It is our purpose to equip the Saints to do the work of the evangelist, not to make our worship services an envanglical tool. With the full understanding that any who attend will be drawn into a  personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

What to expect at PBC?

If we are blessed enough to have you visit; you will be greeted and made to feel welcome and loved. You will find a body of believers from every walk of life with  one common goal, to bring glory and honor to our Savior in every area of our lives,  ministry  and worship.

We pray for the opportunity to fellowship with you.

What we believe

Pocatello Baptist Church is a loving and friendly congregation of believers in Jesus Christ. We strive to love the Lord and each other more as we grow in Christ. We are an independent church, not connected with any denomination or conference of churches.

Fundamental

We are a fundamental church, accepting as true those doctrines that are considered fundamental to a true Christian faith.

1.The inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture

2.The deity of Jesus Christ

3.The blood atonement of Jesus Christ

4.Salvation by grace alone through faith alone

5.The future bodily return of Jesus Christ

6.Separation from heretical doctrine

Baptist Church

We are a Baptist church, accepting the doctrines that are historically connected with those who are called Baptists.

1.Bible as our final authority

2.Autonomy of the local church

3.Priesthood of the believer

4.Two ordinances — Baptism and Lord’s Supper

5.Individual soul liberty

6.Saved church membership

7.Two offices — Pastor and Deacon

8.Separation of Church and State

We hold to the belief that the Old and New Testaments are verbally and plenarily inspired of God and without error in the original writings; that the Bible is reliable in science, history, and every other matter it discusses.; and that the Bible is of supreme and final authority in faith and practice.

We hold to the belief that God is triune, externally existing in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit- co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

We emphasize an expository, thoughtful preaching of God’s Word that glorifies God, and draws the saved believer into closer communion with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

“Not that bad, means not that good. “

Who We Are

Our Pastor and his Family

Pastor Brian E. Griffin grew up in Pocatello. He did not get saved until December of 1992, while he was a youth living on his own in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shortly after getting saved, the Lord moved Brian back to Pocatello, where he began working for KRTK Radio and started teaching the Word as a youth minister at a local church.

In 1994, Brian met his future bride and ministry partner, Chandra. The two were married in April of 1995. Brian and Chandra served in various ministries within the churches they were involved with; Brian primarily in teaching roles with both youth and adults. “Once I knew Jesus as my personal savior, my only desire was for others to hear and understand the amazing love letter He has given us, His Word; The Bible.”  Brian and Chandra were blessed by the Lord in 2001 with the birth of their only child, Jadon.

Pastor Brian Griffin

Pocatello Baptist Church called Brian to be their Pastor in August of 2014. Both Brian and Chandra say, “It is a great blessing and privilege to minister to, and with the amazing church family of Pocatello Baptist Church.”

Pastor Brian is known for his passion for the Word of God, and his love of teaching through clear and challenging exposition of the scriptures while helping other to apply the teachings of the Bible t their own lives.

Pastor Brian describes his conversion as a “Road to Damascus” experience which would explain why some of his favorite verses are:

Romans 12:1-2  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  (2)  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

” I pray everyone finds, the love, joy and peace which comes from Jesus, and that they may find a church family which loves, and cares for their spirtual growth as well.”  Pastor Brian Griffin
